Mark Carney’s new bill C5 this is a draconian Trojan horse of a bill that is going to grant him powers to suspend federal laws and hide all of his conflicts of interest with Brookfield behind nation building projects let’s jump into this we got this one from Global BC it says BBC students in search of summer jobs are facing the toughest job market in years yeah that’s the Liberals the Liberals unconstitutional for a government agency to do so ask for liberal cabinet ministers who have lost in court and had to pay me costs please unblock me or I’ll sue you next week as the revant is not planned here what is the deal with Calgary police bill C5 this is some unbelievable stuff so this is coming from the National Post we’ve got Mark Carney’s demanding power to suspend all federal laws what will he use it for federal fast-tracking bill would allow cabinet to exempt favored companies from any federal law opening a massive door to corruption this is how Mark Carney is going to get around all his conflicts of interest with Brookfield he wants to hide it in this stupid bill Bill C5 carney’s election platform did not include giving himself the power to suspend entirety of federal law and by extension democracy and that’s what he aims to do with Bill C5 the act would give cabinet the power to add any project it likes to list of national interest projects by issuing an order and council this is very much like Donald Trump signing his executive orders in America cabinet would also have the power to make a list of federal laws that can be suspended at any time with a stroke of a pen just like Donald Trump with respect to any designated national interest project to exempt any designated projects from any number of suspendable laws the feds would simply need to write an exemption specifying which laws no longer apply to which projects and it would be so this is very dangerous stuff he wants full draconian power and he wants to be able to hide all of his connections with Brookfield that’s what this is for example the Building Canada Act would allow Carney and his team to designate all work by his forthcoming home construction agency as a national interest project and shield all of its business from conflict of interest laws from transparency rules set out in the Access to Information Act from the scope to the auditor general from federal taxes via the Income Tax Act and from police via the criminal code so by doing so Mark Carney would then be able to say put Brookfield under that they would no longer have to adhere to environmental laws any laws they didn’t deem they don’t have to adhere to and he wouldn’t have to disclose that the government is then using Enderare to provide heat pumps or Modular Group this tiny house company owned by Brookfield would be building the tiny houses that the government is going to build so if Mark Carney starts implementing carbon capture and using companies that Brookfield owns he can hide them under this new law this new control this new power you got to check out this elizabeth May is completely ripping Mark Carney a new one not only that she sounds like a rational human being which is crazy i’ve never seen a bill like this and I’ve never seen a process to push it through so quickly could call it the big beautiful bulldozer bill i know i know you mentioned earlier that you’ve never kind of seen anything like this but is there anything in your years kind of comparatively that that you could shock us up to yes i was pretty damn shocked when Steven Harper in spring of 2012 brought in an omnibus bill Bill C38 that was 400 pages long and destroyed 70 environmental laws and it was fasttracked this is worse the same legal exemptions would be given in a favorable engineering firm telecom company construction giant consulting behemoth etc as long as cabinet finds a national interest angle in the work foreign entities would even be excused from following the Investment Canada Act which exists to protect economic and national security he could send out lucrative contracts to American companies Brookfield owns to benefit from this the Building Canada Act would allow cabinet to exempt preferred companies from environmental legislation such as impact assessment act the Species at Risk Act the Canada National Parks Act and federal carbon tax this is absurd so an extreme example of this Mark Carney could then allow Colonial Pipeline in America to build a pipeline through BA National Park that’s not going to happen but that’s what that power would allow him to do so if Carney wanted to give a foreign electric vehicle manufacturer a leg up or allow a solar plant to be built on federal parkland or free an indigenous own pipeline from the mount of rules that apply to their non-indigenous competitors he could do just that goes on to say that Bill C5 as it’s currently written proposes a list of 13 suspendable laws so he can suspend 13 of these laws but don’t worry it gets worse says these include the Impact Assessment Act and its predecessor which still applies to a number of projects underway in Canada the Fisheries Act the Indian Act National Capital Act Migratory Birds Convention Act a part of the Canada Transportation Act the Species at Risk Act and a handful of federal laws that govern Canadian bodies of water but the moment the Canada Act becomes law that list can be expanded at cabinet’s pleasure in that way Bill C5 is a Trojan horse they can just open this up to all the laws they want you know Mark Carney’s bill is so draconian and bad when his own party is blasting him on it we’ve got Nate Erskin Smith calling out Carney’s horrible bill first first we should welcome greater parliamentary and civil society scrutiny the government’s proposed guillotine motion seeks to limit parliamentary debate at every stage of the bill more concerning it will jam all all expert and public testimony and all committee scrutiny in less than two days for what for what consider that parliament isn’t currently scheduled to sit between June 20th and September 15th we are rushing legislation through parliament under the opaces of an urgent threat but we aren’t willing to put parliament to work for what an additional week to get things right the debate on amendments does not need to be rushed you can’t argue that you know I think this guy’s kind of a nut but I have gained a little bit of respect for him because he is pushing back with common sense against his own party maybe it’s because he got ousted from that housing minister position and he’s pissed we could easily easily extend committee hearings by an additional week provide resources for the committee to sit every day and engage in a more thoughtful process to hear from experts improve the bill and pass it through the House by candidate day you can’t argue with that it’s all true what will happen will Mark Carney kick him out of caucus will he become an independent because he’s pushed back and gone against Mr banker ready to cross the floor like his fellow senators wouldn’t that be something Nate Erskin Smith crosses the floor becomes a conservative nate never stood for anything except himself he always vote with the government at the end no spine yeah I bet he’s going to vote with the government regardless most liberals are weak-minded individuals we’ll see i suppose with that we’ve got the block at Bqua Eve Francois Blanchett saying that he denounces this bill and proposed to fight the Liberals attempt to speed it through uh House of Commons they’re trying to get this through lightning fast the Conservatives haven’t commented on this yet but Elizabeth May and in my years observing closely Parliament I’ve never seen a time when a prime minister’s office or a government grabs onto itself new powers that it has relinquished them later the idea that this bill will be done and dusted by Friday must be resisted and as an effort to make sure the prime minister understands we will sit through the summer there is no objection that I’ve heard from any member of parliament or any party to the idea that we need proper study witnesses can come forward in the summer what is the rush to pass bad legislation that will lead to court challenges and which well could deliver this power to this future cabinet in the hands of a different prime minister i urge Prime Minister Carney and his cabinet to think it through stop the programming motion and let the bill be studied i can’t disagree with Elizabeth May though this probably the first time on the channel i agree with her have them sit through summer not just for this reason multiple reasons they should be just working year round like the rest of us and this is the extraordinary thing this is a minority parliament so what I had hoped for and I still hope for it i I hope springs eternal within my heart and soul and I had really hoped that Prime Minister Carney would will succeed this country needs good leadership we need economic sovereignty we need to be strong we need to be united this isn’t the way to do it what I what I hope for in a minority parliament would be an effort to achieve consensus and cooperation between and among the parties i had mistakenly thought that a Liberal prime minister with a minority would seek votes and support from the NDP Greens block parties that are generally seen as progressive it appears to me and it remains to be seen that Mr carney’s new majority coalition is liberal conservative delivering Pierre Palev’s policies with a more friendly face well that’s quite the speech there May back to the breakfast martinis Liz political theater so this bill C5 this is the beginning of the end of Canada if this goes through Parliament Mark Carney will have too much power canada will turn into him and Brookfield’s piggy bank they’ll be able to do whatever they want whenever they want and it’ll be unchecked next up we got boost his own career he probably wants to take over the federal conservatives he does speak his mind and people like that that makes him likable when he just says things as one of us would think such as him talking about the home invaders the car thieves saying how he wanted to start a fundraiser to fund raise for the guy who unloaded his pew pew in the air to scare away the car thieves defending his property all that it’s very relatable it’s non-politicianlike so I agree with this post never fought before you’re going to use anything that you have be it weapons baseball bats knives you’re protecting your family most people don’t talk like that so yes that is very true doug Fort does speak like that unfortunately it would have been nice if he supported Pier Polyv and the federal conservatives during the election and we probably would have won ontario had so many seats that were on the edge there doug Ford could have pushed that over the edge now he’s having to personally deal Gibo he’s announcing his Canada Strong pass listen to him talk about this as if it’s some sort of affordability measure children and young adults aged 24 and younger can either get free or reduced rates at museums parks and via rail i’m proud to officially announce the launch of the Canada Strong Pass opening doors to experience Canada like never before from museums and railroads to national parks and camping spots our government is making it easier for families to choose Canada as they make their summer plans and to enjoy the places and experiences that brings us together and make Canada strong i thought going on a road trip would burn the country down weren’t we supposed to stay away from road trips from June 20th to September 2nd the pass will offer expanded access to Canada’s nature and culture this includes free admission for everyone to our beautiful national parks historic sites and marine conservation areas administered by Parks Canada and 25% discount on camping fees free trips for children under 17 when accompanied by an adult on via rail trains and 25% discount for young adults between the age of 18 and 24 free admission in our national provincial and territorial museums for children aged 17 and under 50% discount for young adults aed 18 to 24 and I’m very happy to see how these initiative it will create momentum across the country the same free admission and discounts to be offered at a number of provincial and territorial museums across the country this will represent real savings for families for example as we’re here in the beautiful Canadian Museum of Nature a family with three children under 18 could save over $50 in admission cost this summer if Canadians are struggling to afford groceries and gas and everything else they’re not going to museums Gibo like sure put the discounts in there but I don’t think anyone really cares all that much do we this pass is a little rich considering they were allowing newcomers coming to Canada to have free access to all this stuff at least a lot of the parks while Canadians had to pay full price and now Canadians getting a little bit of discount too little too late family with two kids planning a 5-day camping trip to Far National Park in the Gaspay Peninsula could save up to 50% thanks to the free park access and camping discount that’s those savings are in the order of $135 how about you guys stop printing so much money and build some pipelines for once thought this was interesting coming from the National Post it says Canadians reject that they live on stolen indigenous land although new poll reveals a generational divide and that divide here is a majority of Canadians reject the idea they live on stolen indigenous land the older the people are the more likely they’d say they don’t according to new public opinion poll of the respondents across Canada 52% said they did not live on stolen indigenous land with 27% saying they do the remaining 21% said they don’t know or declined to answer i didn’t steal anybody’s land i was born and raised here i’ve been paying taxes my entire life here i don’t know anyone around me across the street down the street or personally I don’t know anyone who stole land obviously this goes back multiple generations the question is how many more years do we have to keep paying at what point is every Canadian treated equal i mean if you saw the recent budget there’s like $20 billion going to indigenous affairs 20 billion the problem with this too is a lot of this money goes to corrupt Indian chiefs who don’t take care of their own bands their own territory so the people on their land don’t get clean drinking water they have money for it because the government gave it to them for it but they just enrich their own bank accounts in their own pockets the system is completely broken at this point the government should just take over all of those major things on indigenous land stop making the payments and make all Canadians equal indigenous tribes can keep their land and that whole thing just like Canadians have their own property their own house their own land that they buy treat it similar but if these payments aren’t going to fixing the problems like clean drinking water something else has to be done because corrupt Indian chiefs are stuffing cash in their own pockets next up we’ve got this in Yeltown uh downtown Vancouver a major uh street candy bust here as we see two cop cars have pinned this guy in just another day where a street candy dealer is getting busted there’s so many of them can they catch them all i don’t think so so this is part of catch and release i wouldn’t be surprised if the cops just back away and let him go because they have to
