U.S. President Donald Trump defended Second Lady Usha Vance’s upcoming visit to Greenland amid growing concerns over an American push to annex the island. Trump claimed Greenlanders sought U.S. protection, framing the visit as a friendly engagement. However, Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Egede denounced the move as a provocation and accused the U.S. of applying aggressive pressure. Trump has previously floated expansionist ideas, including taking control of Ukraine’s nuclear sites and “owning” Gaza. In 2019, Denmark rejected his attempt to buy Greenland, but Trump has not ruled out coercive tactics.
