(18:28) time jobs there was uh uh more than 25,000 part-time jobs added and then an almost equivalent amount of full-time jobs subtracted from the Canadian economy and the difference was uh when you when the math was done uh about 1,00 uh new part new jobs added all of them part-time jobs so here’s what we can take away from that the Canadian economy is not thriving so much so to the point where businesses either a aren’t hiring anybody full-time because they don’t have any jobs or B because they don’t want to pay anybody full-time which then
(19:04) requires them to offer some sort of package of benefits typically is included in that and they just can’t afford to do that so perhaps instead of having one person doing a full-time job where they have access to all of those extra bonuses that the company has to pay for they’re doing multiple part-time jobs to fill the Gap there or it’s just for very lowincome irrelevant useless jobs that we really don’t need um Marty up north says all the new immigrants of the last two years aren’t working from the stats Canada labor force surveyed
(19:37) released March 7th 2025 the graph below which I’ll put on the screen here shows employment rate the proportion of the population aged 15 and older who were employed from January 2018 until today historically about 62% of people who could work in Canada did that’s a low percentage compared to many other countries the flip side is the fact that 38% of people who could work chose not to that’s why at best only 40% of Canadians pay taxes during covid the government declared many businesses as non-essential and the employment rate
